Polka Dot Tour – Classic June

Phil and Ali Sunset Facade group Chris

9 days, 27th June–5th July 2012. Pyrennees, Provence, Alpes: the cream of French climbs. Commences in Pau, concludes in Grenoble

A shorter Classic means a great introduction to the joys of the French mountains.

We meet in the ancient city of Pau at the foot of the Pyrenees and ride Col de Aubisque, Col du Soulor and Col de Tourmalet before a touristic stop at medieval Carcassone. A fast train brings us to the giant of Provence, Mt Ventoux before we journey further north to the Alpes. The heights of L'Izoard, Col du Galibier, Col du Télégraphe and Col de la Croix de Fer precede the legendary Alpe du Huez. Then it's downhill to the finish in Grenoble.

Riding Hotel to hotel means you decide whether the pace is fast or touristic.
